Summer 2014 Interview – Rachel Crawford (Teamotions)

Rachel Crawford - Teamotions

Q1. What is your Name?

Rachel Crawford

Q2. Do you represent a business? If yes, what is the name and your role.

Teamotions. I am the co-founder, tea creator, and CVO.

Q3. Where are you located in the world?

Southern California

Q4. What is your favourite Summer drink and why?

Oh this is a hard one. Iced Teamotions Find Strength tea is a daily drink for me. It rejuvenates and replenishes, especially after exercise or time in the heat and sun. I drink Teamotions Discover Joy tea hot every morning no matter if it is summer or winter. It is a lovely way to start the day. I like hot drinks even in hot weather. My non-tea splurge is the cafe mocha at the Coffee Connection in Ojai. Their organic espresso is the best and they steam the milk perfectly.

Q5. What is the perfect Summer’s day setting to enjoy the drink?

With friends. Something about summer means socializing. BBQs, cook outs, camping, live music outside, beach days, dinner parties…the more people to talk to and interact with the better. Summer drinks should be enjoyed with friends. If those friends could also be in a tropical location that doesn’t hurt either!

Q6. Is there a right or wrong way to prepare the drink? i.e. Never drink without ice?

Drink is art. There is no right or wrong way, only YOUR way. The way you like it is the “right” way for you. However I do have a few rules I live by. For iced tea always cold brew. No reason for hot water to ever touch tea that will be enjoyed cold. Use purified water ALWAYS. Use organic tea or you are just drinking iced chemicals. And share! Drinks are not just drinks, they are memories, conversations, and experiences waiting to happen.

Q7. Is the presentation of the drink important? i.e. ceremony, type of glass, setting.

YES! Every aspect matters. Tea in a real tea cup or mug sipped on a crisp morning with a view of snow covered mountains is an entirely different experience than drinking tea in a travel mug during your commute. The quality of tea is most important though. No experience will make a bad tasting tea taste good. No matter what, drink GOOD tea.

Q8. Is there a Summer’s day drink that you feel is underrated? If so, why?

Hot tea. People tend to put hot drinks on the back burner during hot months. Hot tea is not only healthy and hydrating but it is beneficial to drink hot drinks in hot weather. A morning or evening cup of tea should be a habit no matter what time of year it is for the emotional and health benefits of tea.

Q9. Where can people find out more about you? i.e. shop address, Twitter username, website url
