Sanctuary T

Q1. What is your Name?

Gabrielle Kent

Q2. Do you represent a business? If yes, what is the name and your role.

Yes, I am the Tea Manager for Sanctuary T

Q3. Where are you located in the world?

Soho, NY

Q4. What is your favourite Summer drink and why?

At Sanctuary T, we have over 70 unique artisanal tea blends to choose from, so while it is difficult to choose just one, I would have to say that our Watermelon tea blend (iced) is my favorite. The taste experience of the watermelon tea is perfect for summertime fun as it is playful, fruity, and perfectly sweet. This fruit blend combines honeydew melon, carrot flakes, apple pieces, dried watermelon, and strawberry bits. The light tasting notes of watermelon will dance along your palate over a sweet base encompassing the lighthearted spirit of summer.

Q5. What is the perfect Summer’s day setting to enjoy the drink?

At a picnic on the beach, waves crashing, laughter in the background, warm, salty air surrounding you… I guess anything would be perfect in that setting, but Watermelon Tea adds a refreshing summer treat to the mix!

Q6. Is there a right or wrong way to prepare the drink? i.e. Never drink without ice?

There’s no wrong way. But we think it’s great with a little lemon juice and a touch of sugar. We think the cold brew method brings out the most flavor from the tea. Plus, it’s slightly more eco friendly since it eliminates the water-heating process. For the watermelon tea we usually put one tablespoon per-cup room temperature water in a pitcher and let chill in the refrigerator overnight. When tea is chilled, simply strain before serving.

Q7. Is the presentation of the drink important? i.e. ceremony, type of glass, setting.

Absolutely. Once the watermelon tea is steeped it becomes a beautiful pink color, so we like to serve it in a glass pitcher and garnish with lemon wedges. Another fun option is to add mint leaves to the chilled tea so that the sweet tasting notes are balanced with a refreshing minty aftertaste that will leave you craving this tea in the summer heat all day long!

Q8. Is there a Summer’s day drink that you feel is underrated? If so, why?

Often people come into our tea restaurant and just ask for a traditional sweetened iced tea. We would like to encourage people to branch out of what they are used to, as there are so many different tea blends that can be iced which provide significant health benefits and are absolutely delicious without any added sweeteners!

Q9. Where can people find out more about you? i.e. shop address, Twitter username, website url
