Summer 2014 Interview – Becca (Kakawa Tea)

Q1. What is your Name?

Q2. Do you represent a business? If yes, what is the name and your role.

Kakawa Tea – Founder

Q3. Where are you located in the world?

London, UK

Q4. What is your favourite Summer drink and why?

Iced Coco-Cocoa tea – cold-brewed cocoa tea (my speciality) with coconut water.

Why? It’s the most refreshing drink I’ve ever tried – and not laden with sugar like many iced teas! It’s also wonderfully good for you – cocoa tea gives you a feel good mood lift, a naturally caffeine-free energy boost, and a burst of anti-oxidants; and coconut water is perfect for hydrating on a hot day.

Q5. What is the perfect Summer’s day setting to enjoy the drink?

Late afternoon, on the patio, sitting amongst the flowers.

Q6. Is there a right or wrong way to prepare the drink? i.e. Never drink without ice?

Make sure the tea is properly brewed (which takes around 3-4 hours). Keep it in the fridge and add chilled coconut water. Ice is a bonus! Add a dash of soy milk for a delicious fresh creamy taste.

Q7. Is the presentation of the drink important? i.e. ceremony, type of glass, setting.

I like it in a tall glass. Sometimes with a straw

Q8. Is there a Summer’s day drink that you feel is underrated? If so, why?

Other than iced coco-cocoa tea, obviously… I think chilled Yerba Luisa (lemon verbena) tea is something we should all enjoy more of. It’s a favourite in the Amazon jungle, and does wonders on a hot humid evening to calm and refresh. It also aids digestion and sleep, which is a bonus in the heat.

Q9. Where can people find out more about you? i.e. shop address, Twitter username, website url
