Spring 2015 Interview – Julie

Julie - Spring 2015 Interview

Q1. What is your name?

Julie

Q2. Where are you located in the world?

Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Q3. What currently is your favourite drink and why?

Grandpa style brewing oolongs in a glass tea tumbler. With grandpa style, you put a pinch of tea in, pour on hot water and drink to 2/3 full and refill it with hot water. It helps prevent it from oversteeping. I love seeing the leaves as they unfurl and the way the tea tastes by just letting it infuse loosely in the tumbler.

Q4. Do you change your drinking habits during Spring?

I still drink black teas in the morning or if I’m feeling ill during the Spring, but I do enjoy drinking white and green teas. It’s fitting to me what with all of the new green things springing up & flowers.

Q5. Is there a coffee or tea you think others should try?

Oolong! Oolongs are soo underrated and don’t get quite as much coverage in the media because the health nuts are too obsessed with green tea and matcha. I take all health benefit claims with a grain of salt and simply drink tea because it tastes good and oolongs are so beautiful and complex. They can be floral and heady or creamy or dark and roasty! So wonderful!

Q6. If cost wasn’t a factor, where would you like to be right now enjoying a drink?

Japan! Preferably in a tiny place with a beautiful view, where there are few people and I can just relax with my tea.

Q7. Where can people find out more about you?

I don’t tweet out too much, but interact mostly with other tea people (or teaple as I like to call them) or my favourite YouTubers. If people are really curious, I’m @Julie_Anne on Twitter.
